Description

Shall I tell you a story about a young reindeer with a nose so bright he guided Santa's sleigh one foggy night?

No, no, prior to all that.

I actually finished this piece as a holiday art swap a few weeks ago, but I didn't want to put it up until I had some certainty the other artist received it. There's some odd thing going on, I think he sent me his swap but the fedex post office sent me a note claiming just to come in to their nearest office and present the sent receipt to get it...um, ok, but the receipt downloads as a zip, darn thing won't open.

Anyway, now that I did this, I really want to write my own novel about Rudolph...is he public domain like Peter Pan guys? Anyone know? I have this idea of toying with Rudolph being born to a herd of migrating caribou (which I read are 'slightly' larger than reindeer, but are essentially the same thing...more research will be put into the matter) and they abandoned him when his red nose was attracting predators. That's when Santa and his reindeer come in...or something.

I myself am writing a Rudolph story.  I was inspired by reading Darwyn Cooke's "The New Frontier" and my story set in the 1960's.  If you want something to use for yourself I suggest you give a mentor to Rudolph.  Make his mentor a much older reindeer and a member of Santa's team.  Someone who wouldn't care about his nose and likely would see it as an advantage.:) (Smile)
