Swat Kats Doodles by Aspendragon Swat Kats Doodles by Aspendragon
SWAT Kats, one of THE BEST CARTOONS EVER CREATED - Thank you Hanna-Barbera for not making a pair of dim-witted heroes! Thank you thank you thank you!

It's a 90s cartoon, if you haven't seen it you should, the animation given to the characters is better than half of the cartoons made in the 90s and voice actors are just *insert heavenly chorus* genius. Not to mention the show is more feminist than most of it's genre - Felina and Callie aren't damsels in distress.

I loved this since I was a kid and this isn't serious work - no bashing will be accepted.

Man, I love this show! I just finished watching it on tv, but I didn't want it to end, so I got online and found this pic! Awesome job! You really captured the characters! And the pose with Razor there is way cool. He looks like he's clinging to the wall and is about to tackle someone XD. I like that you kept the sketchy lines from the drawing when you scaned it into Photoshop. It gives them a natural roughness to their look like it should. nice coloring too. Great Job!!! ^^

You're very welcome. you deserve it! :) well it is on boomerang, but other than that, I've only seen it online. I started watching it on youtube cuz I wanted to watch it more than it was on tv. I wish it really would come back strong though. that would be awesome! they should have made more episodes, but they wouold mess it up if they tried now. They already messed with Voltron on nicktoons. then they got just weird with the new Beyblade on cartoon network. Don't get me started on how pokemon is doing now. What is with cartoons these days. That's why Swat Kats are one of the best! And once again, I've spent too much time typing XD.

Yeah, I got the dvd set for Christmas so I don't have to wait if my Internet connection is being slow. The only cartoon I really enjoy nowadays is My Little Pony and Phineas and Ferb.

Hm...I don't remember a cartoon like that...if you could remember the name of the network that aired it you might be able to find a list of the shows they aired.

Lol I only call it a doodle mainly because I eyeballed the original screen caps for these poses.

To say this artwork is quite good definitely understates the quality! SWAT Kats will forever hold a place in our memories, but it's a good thing that people are still supporting the show with excellent art such as this. Great job! :D

I agree - there were a number of themes that SK covered which the average cartoon certainly won't touch. I'll admit that a lot of the 90s Cartoon Network toons were pretty darn good, but nothing comes close to Swatkats. So, so much thought went into the development of the characters and the series as a whole...it was a pack of numbskulls crunching probably one 'violence' complaint that got the show canned. A sad, sad day.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that looks back on their childhood and remembers THIS as one of the greatest cartoons ever made.

Ugh actually the guy who came up with Captain Planet and so on pulled the plug on SWAT Kats because it was getting more popular than his shows (can't remember his name at the moment) using "violent" reviews as support. It was a sad sad day now SWAT Kats probably wouldn't survive now with all the cliche crap that calls themselves cartoons (ex. remakes of Beyblade and Pokemon, etc.)

Okay that's even worse. Yay capitalism and corporate bullshit... utterly depressing.

I guess that goes to show - good work doesn't get the recognition it deserves, bad work does because it ploughs down all the good stuff.

But seriously, are these people on crack?! If you had the choice to jam to either Captain Planet's opening theme or SK... hard choice there. :|

The good news at least is that SWATKats has gone to DVD. :woohoo:

Try not being in the US. It's US-only release :dead: At least there are plenty of people to butter up to :D

As much as the big bucks may want to push their agenda, it's impossible to make the viewers forget the good stuff. I guess demand finally took hold :D Wish it was remastered eps with extras though.

You drew them perfectly! All their facial expressions! T-Bone's toothy grin! Jake's 'I-got-an-idea smile'! It's like they're all out from the cartoon itself! 8D

I remember watching 'em when I was a kiddo, but I forgot about it after a a few years (I'm 14 now). Then I saw this on Boomerang and was like,"Something's so familiar about this show..." And when I saw the opening theme-BAM! It struck my mind! THE SWAT KATS!!!! I still watch the show nowadays, and my friends think I'm crazy beyond repair about this show! *jumps about happily*

I remember the episode where Razor ends up clinging to the ceiling of the hanger, it was hillarious! One of their training devices blows up with Razor in it but he leaps to the ceiling to save himself from injury.
T-bone comes running into the room, "Razor! Where are you buddy?!"
"Up here!"
I laughed so hard! It was just so perfectly cat-like, how cute can you get? :)
